My version of our family's genealogy started out as a few notes about the Zingg family that my aunt Laura Anne Irene Zingg shared with my mother in the mid '70s and a few added comments from relatives on the Zingg side of the family. My brothers, Richard and Ray Kurtz, had already done some work on the Kurtz and Grimston lines.
Three books added more information and details to what my kin provided and provided hints for future searchs. The book about the town of Dasey, North Dakota, titled "Dasey - Our Heritage," was helpful in finding the spouses of Zinggs and giving a general history of the Zingg family. A book about the town of Sanborn, Barnes county, North Dakota added a little more information. Lastly, a genealogy book by Arvid Frank and Emily Frank is responsible for most of the data on the Frank surname and provides an interesting history of that family.
I dutifully transferred any genealogy information to paper family group sheets including copying what my brothers had already done.
A cousin from the Zingg side of the family photocopied a huge stack of hand-written information and sent it to me. Sadly, I wasn't familiar with the style of hand writing or the format that the information was recorded in and it faded before I realized that I should do something about it.
Another cousin, Susan Tucker, was probably the first relative to submit Zingg records to the Latter Day Saint (Mormon) Church to be microfilmed and later presented online by the LDS Church's www.familysearch.org website.
Richard Kurtz has continued to add to the Kurtz line and has much more than what is shown here.
Internet searches and exchanges with distant cousins added more branches to the family tree.
So what began as notes on one piece of paper has, with the considerable help of others, become the begginnings of a history of our Zingg family and other families linked by marraige.
Most of the information here has not been vetted with official documentation.
